What a full life he enjoys from the days when his mother encouraged him to draw and a school that recognised his artistic talents and gave him the responsibility of designing posters for various events.  His love of music and his passion for cowboy films helped him overcome a schoolboy stutter, when he slipped into a role he found he was more fluent when adopting someone else’s voice.  Not only has he passed on his painting skills when he became a teacher but he also passed on his philosophy of life and his ability to make good and lasting friendships, his joy of discovering Clydesdale horses and ploughing matches and committing them to canvas, the delight of sitting in a field to capture a sky or in a studio completing a life drawing or just sitting round a table delighting his friends.

Congratulations to the two student bodies taking part, Graduate Fashion Designers from Belfast Metropolitan College and the University of Ulster and to the young musicians who played so beautifully in the grandeur of Clandyboye Estate. Maureen Martin’s production was slick and stylish, Barry Douglas words were as usual warm and welcoming. The Tayto winner was Andrew Moore with his creation made from Tayto wrappings, bursary designer winners from the Belfast Met. Jolene Doherty and from University of Ulster Matthew Tanner thanks to Denman International.
