Rise and Shine
What a delight to be walking along the Lough shore at 7.45 a.m. this morning, sun shining and a soft breeze coming of the sea. Only three others walking their dogs with more joining us during the next thirty minutes. I took lovely photographs of the dog daisies saluting the morning sun, the Cave Hill majestic in the middle distance and a large ship slowly trundling by.
I wanted also to show the paths which I noticed were completely devoid of chewing gum – people who use this park obviously can’t walk and chew gum at the same time, thanks be.
I also wanted to show you my tomatoes, 48 at the moment on four plants, very chuffed. However, my computer says NO. For some reason, although they are on the screen, I don’t seem to be able to download any of this morning’s photos onto the main screen.
Everything’s Coming Up Tomatoes
So just take my word for the tomatoes being so prolific.
Fishy Tale
It’s a bit like the time son Michael and I went fishing in the Owena River in Donegal. I went to the local shop and got a permit, we walked along the bank and before long we’d caught a lovely trout. However, just before that excitement a bailiff came by and asked to see the permit – that was OK. “Now can I see your licence?” he asked. Licence! Then we caught the little silver trout. As a good example to the small fisherman, I explained we had to keep our word and sacrifice the trout. Of course, when we came home and told everyone we’d caught a fish with nothing to show, they just laughed in our attempt to impress.

Family Affair

Runner up in the BBC Wildlife Magazine Blogger, winner of Birdwatch Magazine Local Hero and last year BBC Spring Watch Unsprung Wildlife Hero Award!
