He’s at it again. Rowel Friers is only 14 but he really is making a name for himself on the music scene in Ireland and in London and last week he performed in Carnegie Hall New York. He’s been named Dublin International Piano Competitions most gifted young pianist in Ireland, got the highest marks ever in the international exam board Trinity College London gaining a performance diploma usually awarded to an adult musician and he’s now an Associate of the London College. He’s been working in the BBC Radio Ulster Classical Connections on two programme, one was recorded in Rosemary Street Church and the other in the Blacktstaff Studios Belfast.
But the big news of the moment is, as the result of auditions held around the world, he was invited to play at Carnegie Hall on 12th May. And Rowel’s talent is getting worldwide recognition. He has just taken possession of a brand new piano, free of charge from Kawai, the Japanese manufacturers who have realised this prodigy is worth supporting. His last piano, from the same company, was completely worn out after three years such is the work ethic of this young man who plays and practices almost non-stop, although school, Sullivan Upper in Holywood, is still important! His outlook on life is that it’s more blessed to give than to receive and most of his performances are for charity so this new piano, worth in the region of £20,000, is a timely gift and offers support to this young man and his family when they need it most. It’s an expensive business being a young genius but this modest family are determined Rowel will be given every opportunity possible to develop his gift.

A Feast Of Theatre Just Now.
I enjoyed ‘Sinners’ opening night at the Lyric Theatre. Marie Jones pokes fun at greed and false gods, with a small ‘g’, is always good and Marie Jones has polished blind faith to a high gloss.

Pastor Walter O’Hare (Michael Condron) did much the same thing but he hadn’t reckoned on the Simpson family and their uprising when the father, (Charlie Bonner) fell for the Pastor’s line in religion.
Solid acting all round, wife Tania (Seainin Brennan) tries to seduce the Pastor to expose his real self, Coleen (Louise Mathews) encourages her, uncle Stanley (Alan McKee) tries to keep everything on an even keel and the others, Adele Gribbon, Michael Johnston, along with granny (Roma Tomelty) all stick their oar in! Patrick McBrearty and Christina Nelson had brilliant cameo roles that brought a lot of laughter.
The script was sharp and raced along although I missed a few of the great one liners but by and large the sound was good from where I was sitting towards the front of the auditorium.
The star of the evening was the setting, (except for the side of the stage with all the electronic equipment on view), a floor to ceiling fine circular curtain drawn round centre stage between scenes, changing colour according to the lighting and clever use of ‘videography’ casting moving images behind the action. I’ve never seen this before and I was very impressed. A choir of hundreds (actually multiples of four singers) at one stage as the pastor lead us in prayer and praise.

I can’t forget how Man Donaghy was skinned alive by the Trolls – great and imaginative way to use a pair of flesh coloured tights.
As the programme says: “The show recreates Talbot’s dark, imaginative and bewitching tales, propelling the audience into a world of devilish debts, trysts and trades, broken bargains and unjust trials; of magic, quick-wittedness, hoodwinking
and revenge. The stories inhabit an incredibly vivid and dangerous world controlled by a complex fairy mafia including factions like the memory takers, the time keepers, the bad talkers and trolls, which humans tackle at their peril.”

Now I have a sense that I’m living in a place that is full of stories waiting to be told. I feel at home – and I may actually believe in faeries too.” Once her book was finished she took an offering of Bushmills whiskey and cream for the underground dwellers: “They took the whiskey and left the cream!”

The music, played live by Mark Prescott and Annette Collins, is French and we are in Paris. A young woman (Hannah Coyle) sits alone, a cup of coffee on the table, a single candle burns. There’s a hush and the girl starts to speak. She’s wearing a coat too big, probably from a local flea market, jeans and red trainers. She’s observing the people who pass the cafe, the three old men under the cherry tree, Mr. Shapiro working in the window of his fashion shop, the woman in the doorway with her children relying on his kindness for something to eat. The Parisian street comes alive as she talks and there are shades of Beckett. Then comes the elegant lady, the girl seems to identify with her, even admire her but when the wind blows against her coat it flaps open and the woman isn’t what she seems.
Soon the spotlight swings to a bar in Nice where an older woman sits. (Libby Smyth). She turns round, well preserved, bright red lipstick, hair piled on top of her head, her stage name is Estelle but she’s really Winnie from Belfast. She talks of her bohemian life in Paris, moving to Nice, having a child and eventually wanting to bring the girl home to Belfast for a visit.

For a time he will bring about a false peace, but “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (Matthew 24:15)…then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be” (Matthew 24:21).
More importantly, the power that runs the world wants to put a RFID microchip in our body making us total slaves to them. This chip matches perfectly with the Mark of the Beast in the Bible, more specifically in Revelation 13:16-18:

Referring to the last days, this could only be speaking of a cashless society, which we have yet to see, but are heading towards. Otherwise, we could still buy or sell without the mark amongst others if physical money was still currency. This Mark couldn’t be spiritual because the word references two different physical locations. If it was spiritual it would just say in the forehead. RFID microchip implant technology will be the future of a one world cashless society containing digital currency. It will be implanted in the right-hand or the forehead, and we cannot buy or sell without it. Revelation 13:11-18 tells us that a false prophet will arise on the world scene doing miracles before men, deceiving them to receive this Mark. Do not be deceived! We must grow strong in Jesus. AT ALL COSTS, DO NOT TAKE IT!
“Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name” (Revelation 14:9-11).
People have been saying the end is coming for many years, but we needed two key things. One, the Third Temple, and two, the technology for a cashless society to fulfill the prophecy of the Mark of the Beast.

Jesus came to free us from the bondage of sin. The everlasting fire was prepared for the devil and his angels due to disobedience to God’s law. If we do the same, what makes us any different than the devil? Jesus says unless we repent, we shall perish. For sin is the transgression of the law. We must walk in the Spirit so we may not fulfill the lusts of the flesh, being hatred, fornication, drunkenness and the like. Whoever practices such things will not inherit the kingdom (Galatians 5:16-26). If we sin, we may come before Jesus to ask for forgiveness (1 John 2:1-2). Evil thoughts are not sins, but rather temptations. It is not until these thoughts conceive and give birth by our own desires that they become sin (James 1:12-15). When we sin, we become in the likeness of the devil’s image, for he who sins is of the devil (1 John 3:8); but if we obey Jesus, in the image of God. For without holiness, we shall not see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14).
The oldest religion in the world is holiness through faith (James 1:27). What religion did Adam and Eve follow before the fall? Jesus, Who became the last Adam, what religion does He follow? Is He not holy? He never told us to follow the rituals and traditions of man but to take up our cross and follow Him (Luke 9:23). There are many false doctrines being taught leading people astray. This is why we need the Holy Spirit for discernment. Unlike religion, holiness cannot be created. It is given to us from above by the baptism of the Spirit.
