This is my friends new car designed by Victoria Beckham.  Originally only 200 of her top of the range £80,000 cars were manufactured but they were a cut above the regular Evoque, stealth gray,with piano back exterior detail, gloss black alloys with rose gold highlight, leather seats and deep pile luxury mohair floor mats and only three doors.  My friend may not have those luxuries but she has four doors and a boot and she loves it and I’m not surprised, admiring it is the nearest I’ll ever get to a Spice Girl although having said that I once played Baby Spice when a few ‘front of camera’ girls appeared in Children In Need.  I automatically go into the routine when I hear ‘I’ll tell you want I want, What I really really want’.

Not often you see a man running up and down the cafe in the MAC Theatre Belfast flying his kite. It happened last week and it was all in the name of science.
George Ellis assured me that you can fly your kite without wind! Well, George, prove it. And he did. As he ran through the tables, sure enough the light weight kite lifted high behind him secure in the thermals he created.

Glenn works for Stana Line at their Belfast terminal while George Ellis, co ordinator and tutor, comes from an educational background and their company takes them to all over Ireland and the UK.
“Lots of memories,” says Glenn. “A 19 year old boy in his wheelchair who is unable to participated in very much but he was able to draw on his kite and then we pushed him around a football pitch and his kite flew and he was thrilled. A young boy with autism used his pens to write his name for the first time, he was ten. After one workshop, we all went outside to fly our kites, no two the same, the pride and joy of those who created them. For one unforgettable moment I stood there in wonder when against the red sky all I could see were hundreds of kites and hear the laughter of delighted children – that was something special.”
